What we are trying to do
As we seek to live out the gospel in central Maine, we believe that we need deep relationships within the church – those who get to know our hearts as we struggle together with our brokenness and sin and the impact of actively following the gospel. We believe that we then come together as a body to celebrate God’s grace, to glorify and enjoy him as the church.
We believe that we must be highly intentional about our worship so that the whole person is engaged in both glorifying God and enjoying him. We will use music, liturgy, and visual arts from all periods of the history of the church to connect us to the worldwide and historic church so that we may experience the full breadth of the wonder of the worship of God.
We believe that we must constantly and consistently seek to know God better. We believe that this learning takes place individually, but also corporately in relationship with each other.
We believe that God has called us not to wait for people to come to us to hear the gospel, but to take Christ into the community. We believe that by interacting with the culture and loving our neighbors we can best imitate Christ and bring the gospel to our community. And we believe that we are part of that community, not outsiders seeking to reach in and change it to our liking.
We believe that we are part of a larger community, the kingdom of God, and that we are joined with the rest of his church in seeking his glory in central Maine. We believe that only as we see many churches seeking first his kingdom will we truly see his kingdom come in central Maine and beyond.
